HAYDEN JOSEPH ANNOUNCES RELEASE OF GENRE-BENDING BREAKUP ANTHEM “AS CLOSE AS I CAN GET TO YOU”

NASHVILLE, TENN. - (June 3, 2022) - Country music artist and South Carolina native Hayden Joseph has announced the release of his new single, “As Close As I Can Get To You.” The song takes listeners on a genre-fluid journey, seemingly beginning as a country ballad, before transforming into a dance-influenced track you might expect to hear at a Miami Beach club. Listen to the track now on all digital music platforms at smarturl.it/ascloseasicanget. When speaking about the song, Joseph said, “My biggest inspirations have always blended sonic elements from multiple genres, alongside the narrative, country lyrics. I’ve aspired to do the same since I began making my own music, and this song demonstrates just that. It sounds completely different than anything I’ve put out before – placing a prominent slide guitar alongside synth and disco elements, but the storytelling is still front and center." A result of one of Hayden's first co-writes upon moving to Nashville, the track was penned by Hayden, Cole Miracle and Fran Litterski. Hayden largely wrote by himself prior to his move to Nashville, but he admits the result of effective collaboration is far better than any writer can do on their own. He noted, “we were fortunate that we were able to walk out with this song, while I was still so green to the process.” The lyrics are relatable to anyone who has ever been hung up on the person who broke their heart, and the melody is inescapable. “People think I’ve got a type Dark hair and light green eyes With a laugh that'll light up the whole damn room As close as I can get to you Drinks gin instead of wine Unafraid to speak their mind Shoots a mean game of pool, yeah somebody who’s... as close as I can get to you I hate that I'm lyin' Lookin' in their eyes and Acting like I’m not just seeing yours They don't know I’m chasing Hopeless imitations ... Holding on to what we had before It’s no way heal, just trying to feel (breath) As close as I can get to you …“ The production, however, was a challenge. He and his producer, Scott Griffin, tried several directions (a more acoustic lane, a traditional country-pop version, and another that even leaned into soul elements), before landing with what listeners hear now. Mixed by Adam Sickler, and mastered by Axis Audio, Hayden feels this version is one of the most interesting arrangements he has ever worked on from a sonic perspective. It’s moody, it’s vibey, it makes you want to dance, but the lyrics don’t lose their emotion - a testament to his co-writers and producer. His hopes are that listeners embrace this new sound and understand his desire as an artist is to experiment with different elements Follow Hayden Joseph on his website at haydenjosephmusic.com and social media platforms Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok. About Hayden Joseph: A South Carolina native, Hayden Joseph is no stranger to the Country Music scene. His love for the genre began as soon as he could talk and has continued to blossom throughout his adult life. Hayden blends the sounds of Contemporary Country and Mainstream Pop music, drawing inspiration from the genre-bending melodies of Taylor Swift, Garth Brooks, and Shania Twain. His unique sound, heartfelt lyrics, and Southern Charm have captivated audiences across the country, since releasing his first single in 2019. His viral videos and consistent releases have landed him placements in People and Huffington Post, as well as a spotlight segment on Nashville News Channel 5. His debut album, Different was released in the Spring of 2021, logging nearly 1M streams across platforms to date. Its follow-up singles saw even more rapid trajectories, securing placements on several notable Spotify editorials, including “Out Now,” “New Music Nashville,” “Fresh Finds,” and “Country Christmas.” His latest EP, I’m Not There Yet, dropped March 30th. His newest single, “As Close As I Can Get To You” released June 3, 2022.
