Global R&B artist Matt B takes us on a buoyant coastal trip with his new single and music video “One & Only" featuring Nigerian singer Oxlade, out today via Vitae Records. The track seamlessly blends R&B, pop, and Afro-fusion elements as the two artists emphasize the importance of honoring the woman you love over a playful cadence and simmering production. Directed by PhillyFlyBoy (The Game, T.I., Kevin Gates, Jacob Latimore), the accompanying video for “One & Only” invites viewers on a visual getaway through stunning paradisiacal panoramic scenes while spotlighting the intimacy of a budding summer romance between two people undeniably fated for each other.
In discussing the song’s inspiration, Matt B shares, “'One & Only' was about portraying the woman you love as a queen and loving her as if she is royalty. When you have someone that you truly love and appreciate, you protect her, honor her, and do your best to give her the world. The song was essentially about finding those words and putting them into song.”
“The video feels very light and airy, and the melodies really carry and drive the song in a beautiful direction. It feels similar to being in paradise, and I wanted it to reflect that,” Matt B says about the video. He continues, “Images of sunny skies, crystal blue waters, and spectacular views were key here. I wanted it to not only reflect what it feels like to be in love with 'the one,' but also have a glimpse of truly feeling 'at peace.' Oftentimes we try to escape the hustle and bustle of our current reality. This video is a small representation of the life I believe we as humans strive so hard to achieve and a select few get to experience.”
“One & Only” is the latest single from Matt B following the re-release of “Losing You,” a fan favorite which he chose to revisit as a long-awaited treat for supporters, and the powerful and vibrant Afro-pop track “Gimme Love” featuring award-winning Ugandan superstar Eddy Kenzo whose music video rapidly amassed over 2.5 million views across platforms.
