We recently sat down and had an inspiring conversation with Destiny about her life, career, musical influences and more.

Hi, Destiny! Thanks for meeting with us today. What are some of the exciting projects you are working on now? I am so excited to be releasing my brand new single "Say My Name." It is a Pop/EDM/Rnb song talking about mental health struggles. It is an emotional dance song I wrote about my own mental health struggles and how I am able to overcome hard times. We are all human and healing is not linear, but I wrote this song with the hope of encouraging those who may be also struggling; to remind us that we are not alone. I have multiple billboards in Las Vegas with Deluxe Version Magazine advertising my song's upcoming release, which I am over the moon about. I am filming the music video in Los Angeles with Talk Girl TV and Talk Boy TV, and featuring a star studded cast including a cameo from Charlie Colin from TRAIN and Jason Cohen from Netflix reality hit series "Dated and Related". I can't wait for everyone to feel this! This is one of many new projects I'm working on right now and I can't wait to share with you!

What is one of the biggest life lessons you’ve learned so far? Everyone has an opinion. Be willing to take constructive criticism from people you admire, but also remember you don't have to pick up everything people put down. You decide what opinions you give power to. If you know someone's opinions do not align with your core values, don't give it weight in your heart. Stay true to your values, your art, and your vision.

Who are some of your musical influences? I have so many musical influences and am really honored to be working with some of them right now, but to name a few I absolutely love Justin Bieber, Michael Jackson, Ed Sheeran, Norah Jones, Amy Winehouse, Adele, Iggy Azalea, Maroon 5 and Elvis to name a few.

What is one “fun fact” people may not know about you? I am extremely passionate about the connection between mental health and nutrition. I am really big on nurturing the mind, body and soul. I love the random fact that 95% of serotonin is made in your gut, and so I am really careful about what I put into my body and try to nourish myself with the healthiest foods I can get my hands on because I believe a healthy body contributes to a healthy mind and soul.

What question would you ask your future self? "Are you happy? Do you continually give back?"

I think it's really important to check in with yourself and make sure you are making decisions that will allow you to live a happy and fulfilled life. I think giving back to your community through friendships, volunteering and spreading kindness is essential to feeling whole. I believe that what goes around comes around, so it's important to set aside time to give back to those around you. What do you hope fans take away from your music? I hope that my music can become a part of some of your core life memories. Whether that be smiling with the windows down singing along to my songs with your best friends, or consoling you in dark moments as tears run down your face. My hope is that my music will lead you to peace and inspire you to always hold onto hope.
