If you've been following us for a while, you already know we are big fans of Pop/Folk/Rock artist Kendra Muecke of Kendra & the Bunnies. No matter what mood we are in, Kendra's bubbly and enthusiastic personality always brings a smile to our face. Her newest single "born to be happy always" perfectly defines Kendra not only as a songwriter, but as a human as well. In true philanthropic form, she pledged to donate a portion of the song's proceeds to the National Indigenous Women's Resource Center - an organization near and dear to Kendra's heart.
We recently got the opportunity to talk to the multi-talented songstress again about her upcoming plans for 2022.
Hi, Kendra! Thanks for chatting with us again. We love your new single “born to be happy always.” Do you have any daily routines or rituals that keep you feeling happy?
Absolutely! I do a meditation & sound healing exercise that keeps me centered everyday.
The last couple of years have been especially hard for everyone. Have you learned anything about yourself or discovered any new hobbies?
I've learned that I am able to create and sustain a healthy inner-perspective on myself that develops over time. I am thrilled and proud of who I am now, 24/7.
You were in the recording studio when news about Gabby Petito’s disappearance and murder were coming to light. How did Gabby’s story impact you and your decision to donate a portion of “born to be happy always” to the NIWRC?
It really weirded me out that people can just vanish. I had a very strange experience on the road, myself, one time, and it made me realize how strong & courageous a woman/anyone needs to be to travel. At this same time, twitter started to trend about indigenous women, children, and individuals who had gone missing in the same region. We all started to question why her story was considered more viral for news stations to cover rather than the stories of missing native women. By raising awareness about organizations like the NIWRC, we can shine a light on ongoing situations that need assistance and recognition.
What are you looking forward to most in 2022?
I am most looking forward to my numerous new music projects and going to my first Grammys Awards Ceremony. So excited.
