Turnip Green Festival returns to Nashville Farmers' Market

Turnip Green Festival set for November 6 at Nashville Farmers’ Market

The Nashville Farmers’ Market will host its annual Turnip Green Festival on November 6. Located at 900 Rosa L. Parks Blvd, this fall harvest event, sponsored by Smiley’s Farm, has been a staple in the Nashville Farmers’ Market Farm Sheds for more than a decade.

Turnip greens, of the state’s most plentiful and popular types of local produce, will be offered in abundance at the festival. Fresh greens will be available for public sale, including:

- Smiley’s Farm: $18/bushel, 2 for $32

- Plano Produce: $2/pound, $18/bushel

- Hancock Family Farms: $2/pound, $18/bushel

James Beard Award-winning chef Tandy Wilson will partner with Smiley’s Farm to prepare BBQ plates. The special, one-day-only BBQ pop up will offer BBQ and sides, including pulled pork, braised turnip greens, and white beans. Individual BBQ plates will be $15, pulled pork will be $14/lb, and sides will be $9/quart.

Music City Nightcaps will play soulful live music outside from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the festival.

The Nashville Farmers’ Market, located at 900 Rosa L. Parks Blvd., is open seven days a week, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., Sunday – Thursday, and 8 a.m. – 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday. For more information, visit www.nashvillefarmersmarket.org.
